Rutherford House Technology Team Receives Group Volunteer of the Year Award
The Rutherford House wants to congratulate our technology team volunteers (George Eckard, Miguel Montalvo and Harold Smedley) for being nominated and receiving the Group Volunteer of the Year award through United Way of the Capital Region! The award reception was held at Beth El Temple on Thursday, April 20 at 7 pm. Each year the Volunteer Center acknowledges amazing volunteers from area agencies at the Volunteer of the Year awards reception on national volunteer month. Awards are presented to groups, the youth and also certain individuals to spotlight outstanding volunteers in our community.
Volunteer Center Awards are presented based on leadership, achievements, impact and effort. The awards are to appreciate and honor so much that has been accomplished throughout the year for our amazing men and women on their determination, inspiration, adversity and persistence.
The Rutherford House is a senior community center in Harrisburg that offers a variety of activities to help senior citizens remain independent and healthy. For a combined 50+ years, George Eckard, Miguel Montalvo and Harold Smedley have been providing computer assistance weekly for seniors, assisting with special events, and keeping center equipment and technology up to date. All three men have been an important part of our center and regardless of challenges they have faced, these gentlemen have continued to dedicate themselves to be volunteers at our community center.
